Obie's system

Lance already knew this but I heard David Alridge say last night that he
talked to Chris Wallace last night and Wallace had no idea if Baker was going
to be at the Seattle game Tuesday night...

Also, I saw a Walker interview on ESPN at the All-star festivities. They asked
Walker about the live by the 3, die by the three. He said that they don't
have a inside, post game so they have the best chance of winning if they
shoot threes and then hopefully be able to go outside in. He then went into
shooting good threes versus bad threes.

For the less inclined, this is why Wallace would attempt to get a player who
wouldn't fit in what we are calling Obie's system in Baker. Once you get a
low post player, would Obie and the Cs change their previous offensive system
to accomodate it? Ah, there's the rub. If you watched the ECFs last year when
our three point shooting died and they ganged up on PP to shut down his
driving, you would know the importance of developing an inside game.

The coyotes would argue that they won't change this system because Baker
sucks. However, I would say that the Pitino system included quick three point
shooting and I assuming that long time assistant Obie has bought into it as a
virtue. (That is why you see Kedrick only shooting threes. He knows once he
gets that down or gets hot, he can win Obie's favor. If it was defense like
Obie always says, he would be playing the whole game as he is a much better
defender than anyone on the team.) You won't see any change on this team
whether we were to get Karl Malone or Kevin McHale would walk through that
door. Not until Obie walks through that door going the other way...
