RE: Someone Needs To Be Sitting Next To O'Brien With A Stun Gun

Put yourself in DAs shoes. His priority list looks like this:

1 - get talent
2 - develop attitude/chemistry
3 - develop rotations, X's and O's
4 - compete

He is preoccupied with #1 at this point, but he's got to keep #2 going
through the personnel changes. #3 would be nice, but not at the expense of 1
or 2. OB seems to be pretty good at 2, and provides some continuity and
focus through massive personnel changes. He is terrible at 3. If I am DA, I
probably sacrifice 3 this year and see how it plays out. Then if OB doesn't
get it by summer I bring in a real game coach.

It's a tough call. I agree with everyone about OB's lame offensive scheme
and poor rotations. I also don't think the Harter defense is worth a damn -
the opposing FG% is low, but they get too many shots due to poor board
positioning so it doesn't buy you anything. Once you have the talent to play
straight up you have to do it. The Harter defense is only valuable on a
low-talent team. But the guys are playing hard and putting on a good show
while they get used to each other, so you can't rock the boat just yet.

Yep that's our OB. OB in golf stands for *out of bounds* that's where OB is.
There are those on this list that think he's a good coach......other's think
he can grow with the team....27 games have gone by to date and don't expect
things to change with coaching. If the Celts do go on to greater heights it
won't be because of OB or Harter. Coaches can lose control of a team like
Scott has. OB NEVER had control of this team. OB I dub thee SOB.
