Talent base

Say what you will about Danny, but he has pretty well
blown up our roster since draft day:

SUBTRACTED: Walker, Delk, Williams, Battie, Brown,
Bremer, Sundov

ADDED: Davis, LaFrentz, Jones, Mihm, Welsch, Stewart,
Mills

On paper, anyway, the latter list arguably is more
talented top to bottom, and on average is younger
(though not more athletic). If Welsch can keep
developing, and Raef comes back healthy, these could
well be winning moves. Time will tell.

I expect Obie to keep Welsch as the starting SF and
try to sell Davis on the idea of being our sixth man
extraordinaire. I expect to see three-guard lineups
with Welsch at the point and Ricky or Pierce at the
three.

With no Battie and no Raef, Mihm will have to really
come into his own. Statistically speaking, he could
average a double-double if given 30 minutes a night.
(He is fifth in the league in rebounds per 48
minutes). Now let's see if he can really handle it.

PS: If the prognosis for Raef's surgery is a 4-month
recovery, why is ESPN writing that his season is over?
Doesn't it seem possible he could come back for the
last month of the season, and the playoffs?
