Yeah, the character issue is huge with those guys. I guess I'm just looking at the outgoing players and figure the risk is worth the talent upgrade across the board. But you're right that it could turn into a disaster.
I do think that Ainge's moves have two purposes - 1. improve the talent level; and 2. Force Obie's hand in changing the style of play. You get rid of some of his crutches - EWill and Battie... James to a lesser extent - and you force him to change rotations and, hopefully, the offense (although I have trouble believing he'd change anything; he has taken this new team and installed a pretty close copy of last season's offense).
