Wallace is OK

Wallace is okay at picking talent...
I realize you folks don't agree but frankly I feel that luck is involved,
especially with any non top three picks... The guys he pick have a good a
chance of succeeding as anyone for the most part.

Yes, as soon Joe Forte gets out of jail, Kedrick out of his coach's doghouse,
and JJ out of his shell. The unspeakable atrocity that Wallace committed in
trading for Baker should be more than enough to settle any questions about his
ability as GM. Wallace is OK at picking talent only in the narrowest, most
insignificant sense - he can recognize that Kedrick is an amazing athlete, that
JJ has got skillz, that Baker was an All-Star 4 years and thousands of bottles
ago, that Joe Forte was a good player in college. But so what? Anyone can see
that. It's projecting how players will fit into what you already have, their
character, how they will develop, what implications it will have on the team's
financial situation that separates a real NBA GM from an incredibly lucky
basement rag publisher.
I guarantee you that, if someone bothered to pore through and compile the
opinions posted on this list prior to the 2001 draft or last summer on who
should be drafted in the 2001 draft, or whether the Baker trade should be
executed, the list would come out ahead of our so-called GM by a large margin.
That's not good news for the Celtics.
As for the luck element, sure, luck is involved, but I'm not expecting him to
hit the bull's eye on all 3 picks. Just one or two would be nice.
