WEEI, What Ainge Said, Miami Jones for Walker

- In a discussion yesterday on WEEI's Big Show
about the Celtics, Glen Ordway was pondering whether the
C's should tinker around or rebuild by trading -- preferably -- Walker,
or Pierce.

As Ordway noted, seconding Cousy's opinion, it's very difficult
to bring the Celtics out of their current mediocre status.

But should they decide to blow things up, it presents an equal danger
of them not being able to risel
out of lottery stupor. Ordway didn't think the fans would have the
patience to wait, and wouldn't be inclined to pay the high price of
tickets -
an excellent point, as how can the Celtics raise ticket prices and then
take a
step back? The ticket price increase, indicates to me, a continuance
of the
status quo or some present improvement.

Ordway also spoke of the Celtics becoming irrelevent and the lack of
interest in the team, best exemplified by their woeful TV ratings.

            ------------
What Ainge said in the Jim Baker column was::

- Philly beats the Celtics.
- Doesn't like Pierce and especially Walker's shooting preferences and
percentages
- C's need a center, though Battie is okay for the East.

   -------------------------

Miami's talking about trading Eddie Jones, and Pat Riley loves
Antoine -- even wanted to deal Mashburn and PJ Brown
for him at one time -- so how about an Antoine Walker and the C's
picks for Jones and Miami's draft choice? Miami is currently 3rd on
the draft podium, and likely wouldn't do the trade, if they remain in
the
same position.
