RE: Trade Walker?

Twang, as Forant likes to call him, is not the problem with this team as it's currently constructed. Your pivots are Battie (injured) and Blount. Jeez Louise!! Our backcourt features a guy who has hit the rookie wall during the last few games of the regular season with us jockeying for playoff position, and a shooting guard who is forced to play out of position. Twang has his weaknesses for sure. His free throw shooting has been friggin horrendous and his field goal percentage would certainly improve if he were more judicious in his attempts. His defense is weak at times and his decision making is suspect. But he does bring an awful lot to the table. So much so that if we were to cast him away, we better be real sure about the return value. Whether we like it or not, he brings leadership and a bond to this team. Last year, his tongue-lashing was reminiscent of what Russell or Larry would have said to their teams. He is among the best passing forwards in the game and can handle the rock better than some of our own guards. His shooting is hot and cold but I like the fact that he is willing to take the pressure shot, though I would prefer to see him take it from 10 feet instead of 30. He has willingly swallowed his own pride and deferred to Paul as the go-to scorer. Think Iverson would do that? Or the great Andre Miller?

Also, our front office seem to be on the level of some animals I saw last year at the San Diego Zoo, so why would we trust them to get us a good return in any deal involving Walker? Now you guys trust Wallace to do the right thing?

He had a bad offensive game vs the Wiz but still chipped in with 14 assists, 10 boards, 2 blocks and a steal. Are you sure that Wallace can get that in return? IF so, and it can save the team money, it should be considered.

Ah, Douglas, back to the good old LADY OR THE TIGER stuff. Have some of
us drawn Walker as he ought to be, and others as he actually appears?

If Toine's three coaches have indeed all been the problem, then we fans
certainly owe it to their victim - poor improperly used Toine - to bring
on yet another coach who is suddenly able to control him more than even
his idol, Jordan, has been able to do.

And if on the off chance that ''Bad Antoine,'' after he has gone through
a half-dozen Celt coaches, turns out to be the alleged problem, will
it then finally be appropriate for fans to place a FINAL EVALUATION
on his 14-year impact on our team?

So don't forget to remind me, Doug, to get back to you by April, 2010,
on the results of this Walker conundrum.

See you then for the squeezing of the lemon contest?
