Way of the Ray is the Death Ray

Ray--as far as I know, the $70M that Kraft got from the state was for
infrastructure improvements; notably the Rt.1 expansion in Foxboro.

If you drive down there, you can see the investment immediately. Against
Finneran, I supported retaining the Patriots in MA because of the tax revenue
supplied by the team and its operations. Losing the NFL franchise to CT made
bad economic sense to the state, even though the speaker liked to suggest that
money going to Kraft was coming from the funds used to pay for schoolbooks.

I guess when the state keeps Raytheon and Malden Mills local to provide a tax
base that's OK. But should it be a sports franchise, it's not. And it's not
as if Kraft didn't spend plenty out of his own pocket for the team and the
stadium, is it?
