Re: What's up Doc Stern ?

Apparently, the team (and its fans) did back when Cousy was playing.
How
soon these sorts of things are forgotten. Someone can, by the way, both

bled green and find fault with the team. Former players, especially,
get
to say whatever they want about the game, because they've earned it.
Well,
the Cooz has, anyway. Maybe Tom Tolbert hasn't. (What do I mean,
"maybe"
?) It wasn't even like Cousy dogged the team, a la WayRay, just that he

had some complimentary words for the opposing player. Apparently, this
non-issue, like the "Bird not coming to the Fleet" non-issue, just won't

die. Not sure why this is a big deal to you people who seem to find it
a
big deal. Didn't the team just win a crucial third game without Larry
Joe
Bird's presence, and in spite of Bob Cousy's comments? -- I like the way
that Cooz apprecaites present players' talents they way that current
players should respect players of the past. It was nice to see Cooz (and
even Red) embrace and welcome Allen Iverson game 1 at the Fleet. AI
obviously respects the Cooz and our history. It is nice to see it
returned. As for former players, yeah Bird owes this team nothing. He
was paid and paid well for what he did and he worked his tail off...BUT
it would have been nice to see him back here. Apparently, he has other
things goiong on and being a stubborn man probably won't bury the
hatchet with Gaston. Let's face it: Even when Bird won the title, he
said he did ot for Terre Haute. I don't think he fully considered
himself a Bostonian. If I have a problemw ith anyone, it's Hondo. Where
is he? He lives in the Cape, comes to numerous games, but has been
conspicuously absent from EVERY playoff game thus far. I mean, a game or
two I can understand, but EVERY game? Even Satch came up Friday and I
anticipate more legends coming out of the woodwork the deeper we go. I
mean, at Hondo's retirement in '78, then commissioner Larry O Brien
presented Hondo with a gold lifetime ticket, good for free entrance to
any event any time. You would think he could make an appearance!

Peace
