The 5-Spot - 5/4/2002

Thanks for that. After two of the hottest Game 5's we've ever seen, we were
treated to two of the most hideous Game 5's of all time. The Sixers got
spanked 120-87, in one of the most disappointing deciding games that we can
think of. If you're a Sixers fan, there's nothing you can do if the other
team doesn't miss any shots. The C's were bombing - 'Toine, Pierce, Eric
Williams, Walter McCarty, Erick Strickland - by the end of the night they
were all raining from downtown. It was Pierce, though, who was a straight
beast. He went 8-10 from 3 on his way to 46 points, but that doesn't even
begin to tell the story. He was unreal, sticking shots in Philly mugs all
night long. There was nothing they could do; Iverson, Snow, McKie, McKey and
Harpring all took turns trying to guad P2, but to no avail . After the game,
Larry Brown said he'd be back for another season as the Sixers coach . By
the way, there's no doubt in our minds that the Celtics roll the Pistons in
a short series . . Did you see Joe Forte on the Celtics sidelines in the
Bill Russell jersey? Very cool . How phat is the Kings/Mavs game going to be
tonight? We can't wait for Dirk to roll against Peja and C-Webb for an
entire series . How about this for scary news? Robert Javtokas, a former
second round pick of the Spurs, was in a serious motorcycle accident that
could end his playing career. His thighbone was crushed, and his shoulder,
knee and kidneys were injured in the crash. He was in serious but stable
condition Friday . We're out like the Sixers.
