RE: Eaten alive

Yes I remember several of us wanting to go after Ben Wallace when he was a
free agent leaving Washington. Yeah he sucks at the free throw line but he
can rebound, and is blocking shots more than expected, and when he's got
that big fro thing going it reminds me of the ABA days!

Random thoughts (please forgive, I have to vent), our greatest weakness on
this team in general is the lack of a defensive, rebounding brute at the 4
position. Our centers by committee I can live with, true impact centers are
hard to come by. Walker playing whatever is OK, just so we know he is not a
power forward. Pierce is the leagues' best swing player, and if he isn't
then I'd still take him over anyone that is labeled such. After that is
where I have concerns with how this post-trade team is currently made up and
Obie's selection of sub/role players. So far Delk has shown me nothing
either as the 3rd scoring option or God help us, as a combo-point (I'm
trying to be patient) what bothers me most is he is on the books long-term
while Rogers coming off the bench is great, but he is not signed beyond this
year, does this bother anyone else? Kenny at point is ok for as long as we
have him, he has stepped up, playing defense, and giving up status to our
"star" Walker? while toning his whining to a min. We need to be grooming a
(true) point or combo-point understudy, why hasn't to date, Forte not been
given a 5 game stretch of 15-20 mins to see if he could fit the bill? Delk?
Strickland? at point neither fits long term. This gets me to E.Williams WHY?
"ALL" his mins should go to Brown/Forte depending on situations, then he go
down the pine behind Rogers, Delk/strickland, Pots, and McCarty. Overall the
team is doing great and I should not be too harsh based on my expectations,
and yes we are playoff bound! Wahooo! I am overseas so I don't get to see
but a few games plus highlights, I depend on the list to be my eyes. I enjoy
the pros-cons discussions of my Celts. Final thought, This team does not go
beyond this step until Walker leaves, or by luck we somehow wind up with a
Impact Center or PG and Walker assumes the 3rd scoring option, lunch-pale,
does all the dirty work kind of guy. It could Happen... But a trade would
make it happen before he retires or I collect social security whatever comes
first.

Ben Wallace 28 boards. Derric Coleman 15 boards. Erick Dampier 13 boards.
And if I remember correctly even the "great" Christian Laetner had 16 boards
against the Celtics a few months back. It seems that every big man in the
league has there season highs(rebounds) when they play against Boston! If
we face the 6rs in the first round the Celts will be eaten alive.

I can't understand why Obie doesn't give VP more minutes to bang with the
opposing teams big man. I think he did a pretty good job putting a body on
Ben Wallwace in the 4th quarter of the Pistons game. Make him earn his $5M
for Gods sake! Blount is a wuss, they never should have signed him. Battie
is more concerned with avoiding another injury rather than going all out.
Maybe he should be traded for Adonal Foyle at the end of the season. I
believe he can put up better numbers than Battie (at least with regards to
rebounding and shot blocking) Foyles' contract is up at the end of next
season anyway. That way the Celts will have more money to offer for the Tim
Duncan sweepstakes.

Walker is starting to resemble Stanley Roberts. If he were in better shape
then maybe he can be a factor on the offensive boards rather than hang
around the 3 pt. line all the time.
