I am starting to get onboard with this Vitally over Battie thing.
Offensively, I think they balance out. Earlier in the season, you could count
on Battie slams or Vitaly jumpers. Now, you can't count on either of them for
that. But Vitally is able to box out much more effectively; half of the
battle is keeping the opposing center from getting the rebound. The other
factor is that Vitally is able to use his body on possible mismatches under
the basket when the C's are spread out. We saw that when Battie was out and
haven't seen it since. Actually, even though they both suck, it would make a
difference. All it would have taken in either the Spur or Blazer loss was ONE
offensive rebound in the crunch. Vitally did that twice for us in the streak,
allbeit in inferior competition. Battie has done that for us also in the past
but "Tony, what have you done for us lately?"....

<Look, they both stink. I know that. But Vitaly was playing some of his best
basketball during the winning streak. He was playing hard and making a real
impact on the boards. He was playing better than Battie has for any extended
stretch this season. I just think he deserves better than to be relegated to
Kedrick-like status because El Busto is back.
Do either of them make a huge difference? No.>
