In the end, I'm still a Celtics fan.

I can accept this trade if

1) Forte-Shammond isn't included. Why it should even be,
I have NO clue. I'd rather live with the dim
hope/illusion that Forte will be a productive Celtics
guard and/or have significant trade value by the middle
of his rookie contract. He is by far the most complete
player I've seen in a recent Celtics game, even if it was
the minor leagues.

2) Baker accepts a team opt out after two years. Why
anyone would throw away a guaranteed 30 million dollars
is beyond me. Hopefully with enough beer and Krispy
Kremes in his system, he'll agree.

My guess is that Baker will average 9 point and 6 boards
next year, or else come out like gangbusters and give us
15 and 7. If the Celtics defense slips noticeably, he'll
get benched for Battie. Should he start whining about
touches, we can't trade him but at least we can fire
Chris Wallace. This is exactly the kind of bad chemistry
risk, bad contract (understatement of the century)Boston
should avoid, but hey that damn luxury tax.

In the end I'm a Celtics fan. We'll be a lot like the
Knicks team when Ewing was finished. Everything has got
to slow down around Vinnie (far fatter and complacent
than Ewing, but a good talker nonetheless).

But yes, we still have a likely playoff team. I would
expect Boston to make the playoffs next season.
