Re: The Boston Celtics Mailing List Digest V9 #206

Omar Cook: I think Ravi Singh must be high or something.
I don't think this guy has NBA talent. He made a couple
of decent passes the whole game. He didn't create anything, didn't stop
anybody, and his offense is strictly incidental. Mainly I'm
disappointed because I had bought into this idea of him as being a
natural point without ever having seen him play, except a few games at
St. Johns. He's really nothing special, based on what I saw tonight.
Give me Pepe Sanchez any day.

Hmm...

Well I don't love Omar Cook..but he did beat a guy off the dribble for a
layup..thats not incidental. It was a sweet move...surpised ya missed it.
Hitting a three isn't incidental either.

I also happen to agree that he has a great handle and is a good passer. He is
also quite quick. Problem for him is that he doesn't shoot well or have a
polished NBA type offensive game for a point guard. His offensive game is
raw..it seems he can either hit the three.

The point guard is my favorite position...while he isn't slick and tricky
like Kenny he can play.

I think Cook will make the team. Basically its Cook vs. Forte battling to be
the third string point guard. Forte can play the 2 guard some as well so that
might help his chances.

Now Darius Songalia...I don't know. He didn't look good..but then again the
Summer leagues are kinda street ball like. Darius likely would fair better in
a structured enviroment. He is the 50th pick though. At best we are looking
at Mark Madsen. That Mott guy looks better then him though...

No friggin way he contributes more then Kedrick though if he makes the team.
Kedrick can play. This list constantly dogs the guy...damn. He was picked
11th.
The Celts got lucky with previous ninth and tenth picks...but umm Todd Fuller
was picked 11th. So was some guy Oliver St. Jean.. So was Jerome Mosio...

To assume that a team should select a star at 11th is simply unfair. And at
21? Joe Forte..thats a perfectly reasonable bet to make. Heck at 21 we should
consider it a decent pick if that guy can just stay in the league. Sure
sometimes a team gets lucky and takes a better player after that..but they
were just...LUCKY.

All I know is that Kedrick might someday hit his head on the rim if he isn't
careful...
I support Wallace's decision to take a risk on that guy. :P
