                  ESPN.com reported yesterday that the Celtics and
Indiana Pacers are discussing a
                  deal in which ex-Providence College star Austin
Croshere and point guard Jamaal
                  Tinsley would come to Boston for veteran point guard
Kenny Anderson.

                  The key to the deal for the Celtics, says ESPN, is
Tinsley, whom they hope will
                  become their point guard of the future. Adding
Croshere would cushion them
                  against losing free agent Rodney Rogers.

                  The Pacers are interested in the trade, according to
ESPN, because they want to
                  get out from under Croshere's contract and are worried
about Tinsley's
                  immaturity. In addition, Anderson has only year
remaining on his contract and
                  they feel he'd be a good short-term addition.
