Point guard and GM discussion.

When NBA GM's scout for their needs they do not just scout the senior
crop of college ball players that will be available in the draft. They
scout potential hardship cases as well as freshman, sophomores, and
juniors that are not ready to make the leap to the NBA but most likely
will be in the future. The question of why the Celtic's didn't draft a
legitimate point guard this year might possibly be answered by the mere
fact that the upcoming draft is expected to include many outstanding
point guard prospects. If Wallace and the braintrust felt that there
would be several point guards available to them this year, then it isn't
unreasonable for them to look at filling out other areas of the roster.
Whether they should have taken a center/banger or a PG instead of two
swingmen and an undersized shooting guard is certainly debateable, but
the fact remains that one cannot assess the success of the newly minted
GM for another three years when either the Celtics are moving rapidly
towards another championship banner or floundering in mediocrity with
9-10 swingmen complaining about shots and minutes.
