Q's take for Jan 12, 2001

Hi Folks:

I really appreciated Walkers all around game last night setting up others and
taking care of the boards and defensive end. Except for his shooting woes, he
was by far the game MVP. Also props are due to VP, Battie and McCarty for
reaching double figures in scoring because they were quality points. And props
to Erick Strickland assigned to guard Jerry Stackhouse. Detroit was thoroughly
awful last night showing why they are losers of 11 of their last 13. Still
they are holding 8th place in the EC, demonstrating how weak the East really
is this year.

For tonight's game we need to stick it to Atlanta who dealt us two crushing
defeats in the midst of our 4 game losing streak. Maybe E-Will should start on
the Reefer, I don't know. Ratliff is back but obviously not in shape. The
energy factor has to favor us provided other guys are ready to score. I hope
Pierce goes off for 35 points and the Celtics win easily tonight in Atlanta.

We are in a month the Celtics must make hay in order to make it easy for them
to make the playoffs. A win tonight gets us over .500 on the road again. 21
wins on the road and 31 at home will make us a top 4 team in the east.

Comments about Tim Duncan not wanting to play in Boston - He did not want to
play for Rick Pitino. If Boston had won the 97 lottery, we would have Duncan
instead of Pierce and be a lot closer to the top than we are now. You play
where you are drafted. If Duncan can't play here, let him stay in San Antonio
if he really is "Old School."

Comments on the disappointment of not seeing Kedrick Brown last night. I'm
disappointed, too but there could be in injury we are not aware of. Besides,
Waltah scored effectively last night. Who knows, the Celtics could be
showcasing Waltah (I doubt it though).

Comments on criticizing Obie for not benching Toine - We are winning, why are
we whining about poor coaching. Simple, we always have whined about coaching.
Coaching is the 1st thing anybody whines about. Might as well rename message
boards to whining boards - LOL.
