Blocked shots are counted as shot attempts just as attempts to tip the ball
in the goal are counted as an offensive rebound and a shot. Paul had one
shot blocked and it was in the first half, not the second. Even so it would
make no difference in shot attempts.
Pierce had one turnover for the game.
And believe it or not creating fouls on the opponents is a good thing.
Something that O'Brien consciously tries to do on a regular basis, which is a
big reason he wants the Williams/Miller match up this evening. He loves to
take advantage of matchup situations. In the Philly game O'Brien felt
Antoine had an advantage and so he put the ball in Antoines hands, which led
to 24 shots and 7 assists. In the Knick game he felt Paul had a better
matchup and put the ball in his hands for much of the game which led to 16
shots and 8 assists. You're spending so much time looking at who didn't get
assists that your not looking at why.

Usually when someone has a perception he can recall at least one example of
what led to that perception.
Isn't it possible that the Knicks made an adjustment at halftime and decided
to not make it as easy for the Celtics centers to get to the basket when the
other Celtics players drove which in turn made it easier for Antoine, Tony,
Shammond and Paul to get to the hoop. Points are points. They are all the
same on the scoreboard. The fact that we went from a 12 point lead at the
half to a 27 point lead by the time Pierce left the game with 7 minutes still
to play should prove they were doing something right.

Well that is the way I took your two totally different reactions from the
last two games. Here are your two posts and you tell me if the reactions
aren't markedly different.

Paul comes close to a triple double in a win against New York where he only
plays 34 minutes and your reaction is to say:

***I wish he had kept it up. He might have had twenty assists instead of

only eight. This would seem to be what o'Brien is talking about, in
regard to Pierce's game and unselfishness.***

(Forget the fact he probably only played about 14 minutes in the second
half and would have had to average an assist a minute.
And forget the fact that O'Brien has never to my knowledge singled out any
player in talking about unselfishness, only talking in generalizations
appropriate for the entire team)

Antoine comes almost as close to a triple double in 43 minutes and this is
what you said:

***Antoine is trying very hard, to do everything imaginable on the court,
it's almost sad.***

Maybe I am jumping to conclusions but I'd say those two statements after
similar games by our two captains makes it pretty easy to do.
