Songalia and a trade suggestion

Hoopsworld is reporting:
<http://www.hoopsworld.com/article_920.shtml>

Celtics second round draft pick Darius Songaila has signed a contract with CSKA Moscow of the Euroleague. Contract terms were not disclosed. The Celtics will retain the former Wake Forest University player's rights should he attempt to play in the NBA at some point in the future.

RealGM is reporting <http://www.realgm.com/src_wiretap.php> that George Lynch is unhappy with his role on the New Orleans Hornets and the fact they won't give him a contract extension. He would like to be traded. He asked that Washington be his destination -- because he has family in the area. Washington sounds like they'd rather hang onto the cap room.

I mention this b/c I've always thought that Lynch would be a great compliment to Pierce/Walker. I think he'd be a terrific 6th man for the C's (especially considering the departure of Rogers). Like most UNC players (at least through the mid-90s) he's always really appeared fundamentally sound and puts the team first.

I have no idea how these trades affect our longterm cap situation (read: Luxury Tax) but they both work on RealGM:

<TRADE #1>

Boston gets George Lynch
New Orleans gets Tony Delk

The Bugs might actually go for this -- since if anything happens to Baron Davis or David Wesley their next point guard is Bryce Drew. Delk is the kind of Combo-guard Paul Silas seems to like. They are stacked with small forwards forwards with Jamal Mashburn (assuming he comes back healthy), Lee Nailon (they guy who is taking LYnch's minutes) and last year's 1st rounder Kirk Haston. Newly acquired Courtney Alexander or PJ Brown can also slide over to SF in a pinch. Oh yeah they also have the indomitable Jerome Moiso!!

Yes this trade leaves us without a PG with any NBA experience other than Shammond Williams -- but I'm willing to take a risk losing Delk's PG skills for Lynch's defense, rebounding and all-around hustle.

<TRADE #2>

Boston gets George Lynch & Stacey Augmon
New Orleans gets Eric Williams

Should N'awlins not want Delk, they may want Williams (who has one year less on his deal than Lynch at a much bigger spot -- so instead of getting Augmon off their books next year for 2.4 mil, then Lynch the following year for the other 2.4, they get Williams' $4.4 mil off the books next year.). Williams also gives them some offensive insurance in case they can't resign Lee Nailon.

I've always been an Eric Williams fan, thinks he has a very underrated low-post game that can get points or a FT basically whenever he wants to. But I think this team needs some "glue" -- the type of hustle, defensive player like Lynch, PJ Brown, or the Nets' Aaron Williams.
