RE: Big Dog apparently traded to Atlanta for trinkets and trash

From: "Orion" <jlyell@xxxxxxxxxxx>

As I have said, strange trades do happen, but they won't if you don't put
them on the table.

The list response would have been: Why would Milwaukee want a broken down
Toni Kukoc, and Leon Smith for an all-star?
What, are you going to use every seemingly out-of-the-ordinary trade to support your deeply held belief that the Boston Celtics can trade their crap for Olowakandi, Brand and Odom?

I think it might help if you looked at the possible *reasons* behind these trades. Might Milwaukee's decision be based on the Bucks' collapse last year? They had to trade of the "Big Three", goes their thinking maybe, and moving Robinson allows them to play Tim Thomas more. The senator sure is paying Thomas enough money. Then there's Robinson's troubles with the law -- teams have moved players for less. Plus, everybody's acting like Kukoc is nothing. He's not near what he was, which was a pretty good supporting player indeed. But, couldn't he contribute, in a backup role, to the Bucks? Sure he could. He's tall, he can pass well, can still score some, and can play both forward positions. He's broken down in the sense that his age is increasing and skill decreasing, but he's hardly completely broken. In short, there are reasons for this trade that present themselves to anyone looking hard enough at it. Sometimes, in many of the trade scenarios thrown around here, there's no reason for the team Boston is "trading" with to do the deal.

I'm surprised that your response didn't include "Why couldn't we get Robinson? We could have traded Shammond Williams, Bremer and Darius Songaila for him!"
