Yeah, I'm a basketball purist too, and I can tell you I'm pissed that
they're 42-32 and heading into the playoffs. And I'll tell you, I don't know
how this team's won 42 games with that idiot coach and ball- hogging power
forward controlling things. Given how stupid O'Brien is and how much control
Antoine has over everyone on the team you'd think this team would be 1-73. I
just wish that basketball purist Pitino were still in charge. He knows how
the game should be played. There's a guy who, no matter what the team's
record, was right. And the thing I loved about him...the record REALLY
didn't matter. He was going to do things the right way...the purists
way...and if they were going to lose, so be it. Gotta respect that. Now that
Antoine and O'Brien are in charge, well, now that Antoine's in charge, this
team has started winning and I just don't care how they do it, it's just
wrong. And I'm tired of using the excuse, well, it seems to be working.
Enough excuses for this kind of basketball, for this kind of player. Damn
the record. That's no excuse for soiling the purity of a great franchise, of
a great game. What would Larry think if he were walking through that door
again? I just hope they trade that selfish ball-hog for a "pure" power
forward like Brian Grant and fire that idiot coach in the off season and
hire a "pure" head coach like Pitino. Purity, that's what we need more
of...not this winning crap. And one more thing about making the playoffs.
This is the Boston Celtics we're talking about. This team hasn't made the
playoffs in almost a decade, but as a purist, as a Boston Celtics fan, I say
screw the playoffs. If this team doesn't win a championship this season has
been a total failure. Getting to the playoffs, winning the majority of games
you play, meaningless for a franchise like the Boston Celtics who haven't
made the playoffs in almost a decade. I know I was much happier when we had
that genius/purist Rick Pitino stalking the sidelines with his huge
basketball brain and pure basketball soul losing all those games because I
knew that in time, the team would win "the right way." Eventually.Given
enough time. Given enough pure thoughts. When the team didn't make the
playoffs at least we knew it was for the right reasons. They didn't play the
game the way it was supposed to be played, so they didn't win. Now this
crap, this idiot coach, this excuse for a basketball player, and they get to
the playoffs? Not on my moral watch. This purist is having none of it,
enjoying none of it. I hate this winning crap so much.
