Actually, Antoine averaged 23.4 ppg on 21.2 shots which I think is a very
significant difference. He is scoring more points than shots -- which I
consider acceptable -- as opposed to the scenario of 20 ppg on 25 shots which
I would find unacceptable. As for his "terrible" defense, this may be
improved with him being in better shape and the addition of Harter to the
coaching staff.
Antoine is an enigma but he's our enigma. You will never get fair value in
trade for Antoine so, unless the organization wants to start over, any
success is going to need to include him. I do not think that Antoine jacks up
7.4 three point attempts per game because he feels that is easier but because
it was what he was encouraged to do. Supposedly Obie will be making changes
to the system now that he's coaching from the start so that might change. A
quicker Antoine, due to being in better shape, may score inside more. Or then
again, a quicker Antoine may launch a 3 pt. shot with 21 seconds left on the
clock! (I doubt he made it to the arc in 4 seconds last year to get shots of
with 20 left).
