This current morass is the result of Paul Gaston not
making peace with Larry Bird during the offseason and
hiring him as Head of Basketball Operations.

I'm fairly certain that Larrie, as indicated by Jackie Mac,
would have hired Donnie Walsh as GM and gone after a
more Pro-type coach than O'Brien.

Having a strong management team, not afraid to take draft
risks, and a better coach, not suffering from job insecurity,
would have deftly and greatly improved the current situation.
