"The concept of college teams as farm clubs is an antiquated notion that
should have died in the 1930s, but persists because of the culture's
insatiable need for amusement, no matter the cost.

The theory is that the developmental league will take high schoolers with no
interest or chance in college academics, pay them working-class wages, and
let them pursue their basketball potential into jobs in the NBA, Europe or
