When I coached, many years ago,I had a team one to two years younger than the rest of the league. Fast break and the full court press were the great equalizers for that lesser talented team. We played sloppy, but we stayed close against teams we had no chance of beating.
What Pitino needed wasn't so much talent as willingness to be in that kind of condition and run their asses off.
He may not win the NCAA's with Louisville, but if he can get them to outhustle their opponents, they should be respectable until that talent comes along.
