Re: ESPN's harsher take

I'd say the truth is somewhere ESPN's harsh analysis, and the hyperbole you
hear about all these guys this time of year. Let's face it, if you go by
ESPN's views, there aren't enough players to fill the lottery-they're all
mid-to-late first-rounders.

Some of the points are valid, but they miss the point a little on a guy like
Gerald Wallace. His one glaring weakness is his outside shot. Didn't they
say the same thing about Darius Miles last year? Granted, Miles didn't light
the world on fire his first season, but is there anyone who doesn't like his
future? Switch he and Wallace and the results for both are probably pretty
similar. Wallace has everything-including a great work ethic-except an
advanced outside shot. An NBA team will take him fairly early because
shooting is something a player who is willing to work can improve.

The ESPN analyses appear to come from Andy Katz, who is a "go to school or
the world will end" type. College basketball is his beat-not the NBA-so he
has a vested interest.
