The offseason

My opinion is that this team is playing about as good as it can. I think both
Walker and Pierce are playing about 85% of their potential. I think that
Palacio has some upside. VP is maxed out. Blount can improve a little
offensively. Williams and Stith are maxed out. Therefore, the team, as it is
constructed right now, is playing about as good as they are going to get.
Getting Battie back will help some. However, we definitely need
reconstruction or an upgrade somewhere to take it to the next level. Getting
another scorer such as Mercer, I don't think is the answer. I think a inside
scorer as a backup, such a Vin Baker--value pick, could be the answer.
Getting a stud point guard who can relly play defense could also help (such
as a Payton), but not as much as a inside scorer, IMO. I am kind of thinking
that Pierce and Walker would fall apart waiting for the 3 no. 1s to develop.
Therefore, my bets are that we will be looking Seattle's way come the
offseason (and they will be looking our way with the draft load)...
