draft thoughts

Gee, it's drafty in here lately!!

I watched the draft from the doghouse and at first, I was disappointed to 
see the C's not even try to land a Center.  Then, I considered how Coach 
O'Brien had the team playing last year.  He was trying to get them to 
pass.  To run.  To score quickly and get back on D.

The Fast Break.

Perhaps I've been eating too many chocolate chip cookies...(nah)...but I 
really think they might try to reintroduce the Celtics style fast break to 
the NBA.  After all, if you can get any one of these three guys to make 
someone think twice about dropping off to double team Pierce or Walker, 
then it really opens up the Celtics offense.

Plus, this offseason, Pierce will finally be able to strengthen his upper 
body.  Walker might deign to pick up a basketball this summer and ponder 
the mysteries of the outlet pass and occasionally going right and faking a 
shot instead of always going left and heaving up the first shot that 
presents itself in the general direction of the basket.  Some of the point 
guards might no longer need a MASH unit to keep them on their feet.  After 
over a half-season of playing really, really badly, O'Brien very nearly 
coached them into a playoff spot.  If they take the can-do attitude and 
back it up with smart basketball from day one, they could go the distance 
next season.

"The World Champion Boston Celtics" still has a VERY nice sound to it, 
hm?  Perhaps we can hear it next summer.
