RE: More from Insider, and a thought on Diop, etc.

I'm not entirely sold on Chandler either, but it's not fair to tag him as
another Moiso. Chandler, by most accounts, is one of two serious candidates
for the top pick. He's a huge talent.

I don't like Chandler at all, and still find it hard to
believe that he's a top three pick. What does he do that
Jerome Moiso doesn't?

First, let me say that if Diop falls to 10, I hope the Celts snatch him up
and thank their lucky stars. But, seeing as the Celtics seem underwhelmed by
Diop... I'm wondering, if things shake out as they appear to be at this
point, if the Celtics would change their stance on trading up. If they
really aren't sold on Diop, why not package picks to move up for Gasol-or
Curry, Griffin, etc.? Up to now, it seemed to be a lock that one of the
swingmen would fall, but it's sounding more and more like it's going to be
Diop. Maybe they like Diop, but they certainly haven't given off that vibe.
And remember O'Brien's quote that if they draft a center, he'd have to come
in and start in a reasonable amount of time... Diop probably isn't that guy.
But he's certainly the best value at 10, if things play out the way it
looks. If nothing else, I'd hope they'd explore trading down a couple of
spots to pick up more picks or future picks. Just maximize the value of the
pick, either by taking Diop, trading up, trading down, or trading it for a
veteran. Don't reach for a Troy Murphy/VladRad-Kedrick Brown tandem at 10-11
and just let Diop slide to Seattle at 12. Maximize Diop's value, if you're
dead set against drafting him.

Insider's latest update includes the suggestion that the Clippers might take
Curry if Brown goes No. 1. That would put Chandler in that slider position,
and he might tempt Golden State to turn away from Gasol. Probably not,
though. But Chandler, considering Papile's love for the guy, might be a guy
the Celts consider moving up for, if he slides to 6 or 7. Who knows?

The Portland stuff just worries me. I don't like the Bonzi Wells deal, and
if they need $3 million so bad, don't you think teams drafting in the 13-15
range would be willing to pay it to move up to 11? I say stick with the pick
unless you're blown away, and Bonzi Wells and/or $3 million doesn't do it
for me.
