bskball: troy stuff, chicago trade talk

It's looking like Chicago wants to move the #4th pick to
us or Houston, should they not get the player they are after
next week. Personally, that seems far too high to draft Gasol
at, especially now that it turns out that his family is wealthy,
and that a man can live like a prince just on one local endorsement
contract. I say, if we get the 4th pick overall, you're just dumb if
you don't take who's left from the Curry/Griffin/Brown/Rodney White
group. Then, with some speed in your pocket, you can take Troy
Murphy at 11 (see below). Of course, that also means giving up
on Omar Cook/Tony Parker/Zach Randolph, and Gasol most
assuredly isn't worth that...if the Chicago deal goes down, maybe
we can still get Gasol with the 11th pick. I just don't see trading
down to get him!

OK, here's the bskball stuff (nothing new)
06/21-IF YOU HAVE MURPH's SUITCASE, GIVE IT BACK!- The Draft process is one
thing everyone who's been through it marvels about. Whirlwind tours of NBA
arenas and GM's, being asked to perform all manner of basketball trick,
throwing on one teams workouts clothes after another. So when I heard Troy
Murphy's suitcase was lost on his way to NJ, I just had to giggle, but would
add... If you found a suitcase with a bunch of extra long clothes in it,
send it to the Celtics, because that's likely where he'll be sometime next
week...... Like the segue?... Troy Murphy is not a player most fans are too
excited about, especially fans in Boston who aren't extremely thrilled with
the idea of their beloved C's drafted a big slow white kid with a jumper...
But what most of the narrow minded people who say that haven't taken into
consideration, is since the Irish season ended, Murphy has been working on
his body. He's dropped some weight, but added some upper body strength, and
he's been working with a shooting coach and a track coach to increase his
first step quickness, and fine tune his shot (like it needed it). Troy shot
in the 40%'s behind the collegiate 3 at Notre Dame, and GM's who have worked
him out said he's almost money every time from NBA 3. Add the fact that he
has been dunking and finishing the ball in workouts, and blowing by guys who
are supposed to be quicker than him, most feel Troy is going to go in the
top 15, some have said NJ might grab him at #7. The C's would love for him
to slide into the 20's, but have hinted they may take him at 11, if he's
there. Given the obvious Irish jokes about joining a Celtics team, there is
another big slow white forward with a jumper Troy is likely to draw
comparisons to, and who in Boston wants to see them pass on that?
