RE: Celtics talking to Jordan, Wizards about No. 1 pick

I don't know, Joe. I'm assuming the offers were more along the lines of No.
1 for Bibby and 6 or Miller and 8. Those aren't such no-brainers. And
Hamilton did average 18 ppg this year, so I'm not so sure a proven scorer
isn't worth the seventh pick to a team looking to get better now. I guess
we'll never know for sure, but Fox Sports also has a story saying Jordan is
trying to trade the pick. There's a lot of smoke there. Also, SportsTalk is
more legit than most think. I remember they broke the story that the
Indianapolis Colts were planning to take Edgerin James instead of Ricky
Williams in the NFL draft a couple of years ago, when everyone assumed they
had traded Marshall Faulk to make room for Williams. The SportsTalk guys
actually do a good job not just passing on links, but also adding an
occasional scoop. And they're going mainstream---they've partnered with
ESPN.com.

Vancouver wouldn't want to trade Bibby for a number one overall pick?? This
already makes me suspicious about the credibility of SportsTalk...

Whoa, NJ Nets management feels Rip Hamilton is worth a 7th pick and a
future lottery pick? I guess whenever you hear the phrase "league source"
on an Internet rumor site, it deserves the same credibility as a Will
McDonough prediction. If Jordan pulls off these trades, I might actually
start believing all the conspiracy theorists.

I do agree, however, that the Celtics should at least explore Jordan's
supposed interest in trading down to get Jamaal Tinsley. As much a slam
dunk, no brainer this #10-11 in exchange for #1 overall is from Boston's
perspective, it is no less ridiculous a scenario than the other ones
suggested above IMO.
