my impressions of tonight's game

JJ: you can pencil him in as a starter from the get-go. Easily the
third-best (at least) player on the Celtics. Can do everything, seemingly
without breaking a sweat. Even better, I think he's going to complement
AW's & PP's games with the way he just lets the game come to him. He sort
of has Antoine's all-around game, but without the wasted motion - rather
the economy of movement of Paul Pierce.
A few highlights: he got back on the Wizzards' fast break, made a real
hustle steal, and kicked the ball out to a teammate at the 3-point line
while falling out of bounds. Then, in the 4th, the Celtics missed a layup,
and the Wizzards were heading the other way. He reached in, took the ball
away, and fired a no-look pass to Blount for a dunk. Beatiful stuff.

Kedrick: like the others said, amazing hops, very nice looking jumpshot,
can rebound. Not as polished as JJ, but few NBA veterans are.

Forte: a polished player, does the little things well, gets tough rebounds,
good hops, nice-looking mid-range J.

Best of all, our three rooks already seemed to be playing well together,
and more importantly, playing unselfish basketball. I'm very, very
pleased with what I've seen so far.

Palacio: looks excellent physically, but looked for his own shot a lot to
the detriment of his teammates and not much success. Took it to the basket
strong, just like last season, but no appreciable PG skills on display. I
was disappointed.

Blount: bigger, stronger, more aggressive. Literally went after every shot
and rebound, and got a bunch of them. I don't know why he only got credited
with 2 blocks. His rebounding looks much, much better. I could see why our
brass didn't go after Nazr aggressively, with Blount looking like that. If
he can sustain that when the real games start, we have ourselves a
rebounding, shotblocking, space-clogging center.

Moiso: same as before. Fluid, agile, graceful, clueless, timid. At times it
seemed like he might do something, but every block attempt was a foul,
every move on offense was bungled. The highschooler Brown took him to
school. I see him contributing about the same as last year - nothing.

Non-roster player of note:
El-Amin: the guy can flat-out play basketball. He's sort of the antithesis
of Palacio in terms of PG skills, and reminds me of a slightly more
athletic Sherm Douglas with a better shot. The amazing part is he's not
even in NBA shape, yet still dominated his competition.
