Re: Re: interesting NBA notes

Guys, don't misunderstand me: I'd love to add Mohammed for the 4.5mil exception
and I agree that we need size and rebounding as badly as any team in the
league. However, I don't think we can get him for the exception, and giving him
a bigger contract and trading one of our better players (that's what it would
have to be in a sign-and-trade deal) would worry me for the reasons I mentioned
in my last post.
I'm sure if Wallace & Co. thought as highly of him as some of you people do AND
could get him for the exception, or in a trade for McCarty & Williams, he'd be
a Celtic. Just because they're not making noises about Nazr doesn't mean they
haven't tried. As to their public stance about this, whatever Wallace & Co.
think about our center-by-committee, it's just not good management to start
wailing about how much they suck and how lovely it would be to get Nazr for
them. As Pitino used to say, it drives down the market value of your players
and pisses off the players. And if our centers suck, then why would Atlanta
trade Nazr for them if he's any good ? You can't have it both ways. And I dont'
think he's worth the risk of trading Walker, Pierce, or our allegedly very
talented draftees for him quite yet.
Or maybe Wallace & Co. have determined that Mohammed is a 28-game wonder, and
that Blount or Moiso or Battie are ready for a breakout season, not Nazr.
Whatever it is, they either can't get him, or don't want to, and we'll just
have to trust their judgment on that, as always.
