The Ainge Thing

Hiring Ainge makes perfect sense, if it happens.

It's Gaston's way of throwing it back into Bird's
face, and because Ainge is an ex-Celtic,
it keeps the Celtic faction quiet. You won't see
any negative quotes heading Will McDonough's
way.

Would Bird have been preferable? Yeah, because I
think he would have brought along Donny Walsh
as GM, and it it would have been an easier sell
from a public relations perspective.

But Ainge will be an improvement over the last two guys who were
here. Hopefully, he'll swipe some of the Suns' scouting
staff, as they've done a great job over the past years.

If they do hire Ainge or someone else as Director of Basketball
Operations, that pretty much kills the idea of the team being
sold any time soon.

Ainge's first task will be to get equitable value for long gone
Toine in a deal. He's history people, if Ainge takes over.

My preference is to deal Walker for a young point or shooting
guard, and let Battie, Blount, and Moiso battle it out for the
starting power forward spot.
