Re: Ainge?

I was wondering if this interest in Ainge is a way of "pushing" Bird to come
to the table and work with Gaston. If I remember correctly there has been
some somewhat good natured rivalry in the past between Bird and Ainge. If
the Celtics hire Ainge Bird will be blocked out for the job he wants.

I think that the job is for Director of basketball operations. Above the
GM.

Since Pond is being the mouthpiece instead of Gaston, I think this bodes
well for a return of Bird. At the very least it appears to throw down the
gauntlet for Bird to either step up to the table and work it out with Gaston
or sit on the sidelines and be quiet. It also may indicate that Bird would
"report" to Pond instead of Gaston which may be more palatable (face saving)
for Bird.

At least Ainge won't Sh*t on Red and the organization and also appears to be
liked by other NBA types in the league. At the very least a step forward.

But a valid point Josh.
