Re: Pitino (well, what else would it be?)

Bill, I'm sure you're a good person, but you're defense of Pitino is
ridiculous. Yes he worked hard, but for $7,000,000 per year, you better
work your butt off. And to say he's knowledgeable or smart after what
we've seen for the last four years is stunning. Sure he knows his Xs and
Os, but he wouldn't know what discipline is if he caught it sleeping with
his wife.

I can't even keep track of all the times he said things like: "We played
terrible defense tonight. I could get a bunch of CBA guys in here to play
better defense. I'm going to watch the film tonight, and players who
aren't playing any defense will be benched." And then the next game
everything is the same. "I watched the film and nobody played defense. I
couldn't bench the entire starting lineup." YES YOU COULD RICK, IF YOU
HAD ANY SACK.

And what about the time Kenny and Antoine got into a fight during a game,
and he yelled about how unprofessional it was and how there would be
suspensions, possibly for the rest of the season. The next day: no
suspensions.

Even his knowledge about conditioning was mediocre. Does anybody remember
this gem from training camp: "Chris Herren has lost 20 pounds so far, but
he needs to lose another 15." I'm not a doctor, but I'm pretty sure
losing 35 pounds in a month isn't healthy. It's not good for supermodel
wannabes and it's not good for professional athletes. He should have
said something like: "Chris Herren needs to improve his conditioning. His
percent body fat is X. He needs to get it down to Y."
