bye Rick.
With Rick Pitino expected to resign on Monday, I
for one, aren't happy about the situation. Not because I want the guy to stay -
let me make that clear. I'm not happy to see a guy who obviously is so
passionate about what he does, fail. I just wish his players would contribute
half the amount of effort into what they do, as their coach does. While he has
undisputedly made some bad GM moves, and his coaching methods at times,
questionable - I feel bad for the guy.
Sure the guy has made bundles of cash, and isn't
exactly going to be out of job for long, but to see someone so committed to what
they do fail pretty miserably doesn't sit right with me. His loyalty and
"unwillingness" to bench our so-called stars I think contributed to his
downfall, just as much as his bad GM decisions along the way. Just hope the guy
kicks some butt at whatever college he ends up at.
Please let the next coach not take any Sh*t from
his players. My personal preference (everyone has their own, I'm sure) at this
point would be Doug Collins. Something about the guy's approach I like. He's
also tough as nails. I'm dreading the rumour mill names listing retreads
like Del Harris, Bob Hill, Brendan Malone, Stu Jackson, etc.
Whomever it is, the first thing they should do is
sign a Xavier McDaniel type as an assistant coach, specialising in defense. I
remember getting to see a couple of Nets practice sessions when X was there as a
12th man/Assistant Coach, a couple of years ago. The guy was beating the hell
out of guys in practice. My kinda guy.
Just my 2 pence.
