Re: Man in the middle

I disagree with whoever said that Battie is the best
shotblocker out of the 3 centers (V, Battie, Blount).
The only reason why Battie's block stats look better
is that he's played more minutes and more games than
Blount. If Blount had as much playing time as Battie
did all season then he would either equal or surpass
Batties block totals. Blount is also a bigger
presence in the middle because of his longer wingspan
and if he doesn't block the shot he alters it.
Offensively Battie is muched more polished than Blount
and a better rebounder. But my issue is about shot
blocking and defensive presence and not about who's
the best center on the C's. Blount is the best
defender out of the 3 centers but if I had to make a
choice who to start I'd go with a healthy Battie
because he's the most well rounded of the centers.

As for Kenny, people have already talked about him to
death. He's still a good point guard but he's playing
for the wrong team. He needs to play for a veteran
team that has a half court offensive set and players
that need to be set up by the point guard. Kenny
would be a great backup in Utah because they don't
play a running game and the offense is dictated by the
point guard. He'd have plenty of people to pass to
like Malone, Russell, or Starks. The Celtics
primarily run their offense thru Toine as evidenced by
Toine bringing the ball up 80 % of the time. This
makes Kenny's slashing obsolete since he doesn't have
the ball to begin with. Also Kenny hasn't been
healthy all season which is a big factor in his poor
numbers. He was injured in the offseason so he didn't
have any conditioning coming into the season and then
on top of that he couldn't eat for 6 weeks with his
jaw wired shut. How can anyone expect Kenny to play
at peak levels if he's physically not able to? Just
look at Kenny's typical jump shot this season.
Everything he's thrown up has practically been a line
drive shot which means he doesn't have enough leg
strength to get the ball off correctly. Give him a
injury free season and you'll see a big difference in
his play.
