News on Yao Ming, Tito Maddox

Here is some news I read on FoxSports.com. China's 7-5 center Yao Ming, a
possible #1 overall NBA draft pick someday, scored 20 with 21 boards in the
opening game of the World University Games in Beijing (BTW, since when was
this guy a university student?). It was against a very weak opponent: the
Virgin Islands. Lonnie Baxter of Maryland led the US to an easy opening win.

The US team isn't very interesting frankly (Maryland's Juan Dixon might be
the most notable player), compared to the more talented team that just won
gold behind Troy Bell and Chris Duhon in Japan.

Meanwhile point guard Tito Maddox was kicked off Tarkanian's Fresno State
team for accepting Laker tickets and airfare from an agent. Serves him
right. ;-)

Looks like he's heading for the new NBA developmental league. He may be
worth keeping an eye on if his jump shot improves. Maddox averaged 8
assists and 5.7 boards last year, and he has decent size.
