Surveying the landscape, GS wants to keep Marc Jackson and move the contract
of E. Dampier. His BYC status comes off later this month. They already have
Vonteego, Sura, and Mookie playing at PG and with the drafting of Richardson
they have talked about playing Hughes some at PG as well. Mookie thus is very
expendable as the kids are their future and Mookie is long in tooth.

In exchange for taking on Damp's unfavorable contract along with Mookie's
favorable contract (the final year of his deal), I'd offer a
Vitaly/E.Williams/R. Brown package plus the #1 from Philly (as a sweetner) as
a trade off to more evenly balance the roster. The C's would finally have a
legit "5" that while admittedly being a gamble would at the same time
expedite freeing up the logjam at the PG and the wing positions.

PG: Mookie, Palacio, KA
SG: JJ, Forte
SF: Pierce, McLeod, K. Brown
PF: Walker, Battie, McCarty
C: Dampier, Blount/Battie

Hell, if push came to a shove, KA could still always be moved for DC in the
standing offer on the table if the C's want yet another big body and a low
post player. A 3rd PG could easily be signed for the minimum ala Matt Maloney
to replace Kenny. And that other JJ - Jimmy Jackson (a proven double digit
scoring "2") - is still out there on the free agent wire, too.
