Yeah, but he can't score or defend against any decent 4 down there. And he has
been shirking rebounding under Obie for the most part with the exception of a
few games here and there - his numbers have come down by over a rebound a game
in the O'Brien era. It's ultimately not even a question of what he CAN do, but
of what he WANTS to do. And with Obie's laissez-faire style, Toine's shown that
he wants to dribble a lot, make passes to Pierce, and hang around the 3-point
line hoisting up treys. As anyone who's played basketball knows, playing in the
low post is taxing physically and mentally. It's much easier to put up a
jumpshot instead. And Obie will let him do that, having learned the lesson from
Pitino's demise. Which is partly why Toine issues endorsements of Obie to the
media nearly every day.
