Pitino Urged/Latest Trade Rumor... It's Time For Celtics Notes

Sunday night on Channel 4 in Boston, sportscaster Bob Lobel --
a friend of Rick Pitino and host of the Rick Pitino Show -- urged
his buddy Pitino to head on down to Indiana and take the IU job.
It may have been said tongue in cheek, or was it?

                                              ***

The latest Celtics trade rumor is Kenny Anderson and Vitaly Potapenko
to the Knicks for Allen Houston. But it doesn't work salary cap wise,
you
say. That is true. Houston is at $9 or so million; Anderson and
Potapenko
combined, grade out in the $11 million range. However, if the Knicks
were to toss in a Chris Childs, and the C's, one of their never ready
for
prime time players, you might be talking a possible deal. It will all be

dependent on the trading of Ewing.....

                                            ***

Don't expect to see Kris Clack on the Celtics roster next season, as
the C's according to Peter May are encouraging Clack to play
overseas. They have too many players and not enough roster
spots at the moment.

Chris Herren is very leary of joining the Celtics, should the
oft-rumored
Herren deal actually occur. He told the Fall River Herald, that at first

he was very excited about coming home and playing for Boston, but then
he started to think of all the pressure he would face, playing in front
of the home crowd. He cited the situation of ex-Red Sox pitcher and
fellow
Southeastern Massachusetts native Brian Rose and all the
problems he encountered being a local athlete. Herren said, he was
glad the Abdul Wahad/Herren/Barros/1st round pick deal didn't go
through. He likes it in Denver.
