More rumors that Kenny is on the outs

This reported by bskball.com, so Josh may know more. Nothing here that we
didn't already suspect. Unfortunately, his salary makes him an anchor, and I
just don't see the guy being a happy camper on the bench. This could cause
some real problems. I'll say this: Kenny still has enough talent to make
himself attractive to teams. The contract is the problem. Atlanta (only
because they could dump an even worse contract in Lo Wright) and NY seem
like logical landing points. Here's the text:

10/17-KENNY ANDERSON FOR SALE- Last summer, amidst many trade rumors, a
sullen Kenny Anderson had a meeting with Rick Pitino, in that meeting in the
Summer of 1999, the two agreed to work together, after a rough lockout
shortened season. The two agreed to communicate more directly, and that
Kenny would work on his conditioning and being a playmaker. Kenny had heard
the trade rumors and really felt he wanted to stay in Boston, and promised
to do things Pitino's way. Pitino promised not to trade him. This summer,
after another gut wrenching season, the Celtics have made it clear to
Anderson and many around the league. He is not the Celtic's playmaker. While
Anderson is a great scoring guard, his shoot first instincts prompted Rick
Pitino to go out and sign Randy Brown (A tough veteran playmaker), trade for
Chris Herren (a young playmaker) and Bryant Stith, who got his start last
night. Anderson was not with the team yesterday, and their playmaking showed
that. In many cases fumbling the ball, because the players were not used to
an unselfish Point Guard. As the game wound down, it became clear to those
watching, and those close to the team, Kenny Anderson's time in Boston may
be over. Anderson was attending the birth of a child with his fiancé, and
may not like the atmosphere when he returns. The big problem for the Celtics
is not would they trade him (they would), but it is would anyone trade FOR
him. Few in the league will doubt Kenny Anderson as a scoring guard or a
hard nosed player, but what comes to the front is at his size, can he ever
guard anyone for 48 minutes, and will he ever be a playmaker. In the Pitino
system those answers are probably no, and no. But at $7.5 million, Kenny
Anderson is a bit over paid, and with many teams being more budget
conscious, its unlikely the Celtics can't move Kenny any where but to the
bench.
