Young stars named captains for season

.............................More than meets eye
After Griffin sprained his right ankle in early January, he never returned to
the form that made him a Rookie of the Year candidate. Although it was clear
the injury bothered him until the regular season concluded, Griffin didn't
learn there was nerve damage until after the season. He underwent surgery to
relieve nerves that were entangled and pinched by tendons. Griffin did not
publicly disclose the extent of the damage until yesterday.
''I knew how bad it was, but I didn't know what it was,'' said Griffin. ''My
whole foot would go numb. I was just trying to finish the season. I knew I
wasn't going to play as well as I did. I feel a lot better as far as moving.
I still want to get my ankle stronger. As far as moving and running, I'm just
happy to cut. The last two months of the season I couldn't go by anyone. I
couldn't put any pressure on it. I had no strength
whatsoever.''......................
........ ... Pitino reported that top draft pick Jerome Moiso was on a flight
back from Barbados, where he went to get a special attachment to his visa
permitting him to work in the United States. He will be ready to go tonight
when the Celtics take on San Antonio at the Worcester Centrum.
