BOSTON CELTICS SIGN DOUG OVERTON

Team Waives Rick Brunson


BOSTON, MA - The Boston Celtics announced today that they have signed guard Doug Overton. The team also announced that they waived guard Rick Brunson.

Overton, an eight-year NBA veteran, played in 48 games for Boston last season. Signed by Boston as a free agent on November 8, 1999, Overton averaged 3.2 points in 9.0 minutes per game for the Celtics, while shooting .952 (20-for-21) from the free throw line. A 1991 graduate of LaSalle, Overton has played in 399 games in his NBA career, averaging 4.6 points per game.
  
Brunson, who was signed by Boston on November 6, 2000, played in seven games with the 
Celtics this season, averaging 3.7 points and 3.4 assists in 20.3 minutes per game.
