Are you sure they aren't listening to him Mark? Are you sure these players
don't do what they're told and, since it doesn't work during a game, give
up on it? Is it really they're fault that they continue to be one of the
worst defensive teams any of us has ever seen? Is it really their fault
that after years as gm Ricky has brought nobody in to match up with even a
mediocre frontline. Battie? Pots? Blount? How many moves has he made to end
up with those guys? What's the point of playing if you know you simply
don't have the talent or size to match up with someone. I think the really
frightening thing about this season is that Walker and Pierce, in most
games, have played really hard, and they've still lost. Maybe as a player
you simply reach the point where you have to work so hard only to lose, it
just isn't worth it anymore. Maybe they know...and they've known for a long
time now because players on other teams take the night off against them,
that this just isn't working. Maybe they've also blamed themselves for all
these losses and they're beginning to realize that the guy on the bench has
been leading them down the garden path. Maybe Ricky simply isn't an NBA
coach. He was in the NBA how many years ago?

Look....I agree that this guy should've moved one of Walker or Pierce this
summer, and I was advocating Pierce. But...you pick 'em. Whichever one you
want. But I think Walker and Pierce are the type of players you build
around. He's failed as a gm to build around them. He's failed as a gm and
coach to give them a chance once they hit the floor. He's just a failure
and I'm afraid the team is back where they've started. ML Carr was no
worse.
