There are those here who would not be averse to us tanking to get a better
draft pick.  They have said so in the past.  Just like there are those who
would prefer to see Pitino fired regardless of the improved play.  It is
mostly attributed to Toine's maturity.  There hasn't been much mention of
Fortson's steady rebounding or Dana's improved shooting or Cheaney's defense
etc.

The mood of this list, with a few exceptions, changes like a barometer,
based on the results of the latest game.  Bentz would tell you, with little
argument from me, that there is a faction of this list who relish it when we
lose.  Not me.  I hate it when we lose.  But when we win, I am as proud as a
peacock when I go in to the office.

I don't believe in bashing players and coaches unless I know things to be
fact.  I cringe when I read posts which state "Pitino thinks ..." or "Pitino
must have..." How the hell does anyone know what he thinks, or anyone else
really, unless they communicated with him?  Who are we to cast judgement on
the tactics he used anyway?  He has been successful at each stage of his
career, and, given time, will succeed here as well.  Remember the outrage on
this list when he went off a few weeks ago?  There was plenty of "Pitino's
lost it now" and "He's trying to cover up things" and "They are tuning him
out" etc.  Nobody can say that the team has not responded to it.  But he
doesn't get much credit for it from some.

I am constantly called into question for asking you to be patient and allow
this team to blend together because it does take time as well as talent to
win.  They have to learn how to win together.  Last night's game is a
perfect example.  They played like shit at times, and lost because of it,
but they made it awfully interesting to the end.  Earlier, they would have
folded the tent and packed it in.  Not this team.  Not now.  And the good
thing for me is that I KNOW they will improve.
