Pitino's signals: connecting the dots

Has it occurred to anyone that there might be a connection between the
following two events:
#1: Pitino has "discussions" with the University of Miami about their
coaching job.
#2: Pitino announces that tonight (why not earlier?) he'll be talking
with Paul Gaston about how much money will be available to sign Danny
Fortson.
The connection: RP uses the threat of his resignation (of course, Gaston
may not care) to pressure Gaston into making a little less money from
his business. Pitino has repeatedly stated how he "understands" the
necessity of running the Celtics like a profit-making business.
Any opinions?
