C's get peek at Sasser

The Celtics are looking at SMU guard Jeryl Sasser, but Sasser isn't
looking at many teams. Coming out of school a year early, the 6-foot-6
guard is keeping his options open.

Sasser is visiting just the Celts and Philadelphia, and he's paying his
own way. By accepting no assistance, Sasser maintains his NCAA
eligibility.

In addition to the Celtics and 76ers having interest in him, Sasser, who
averaged 17.3 points on 38 percent shooting last season, is hoping to
get an idea of where he might go in the draft.

The Celts have the 11th pick while the Sixers select 20th.

There was some question of whether the Celtic basketball staff might be
cut this offseason after financial issues seemed to arise often during
the past campaign. But Rick Pitino reports that ``everything's intact.
Everyone's coming back.''

Also, the extra year kicked in on general manager Chris Wallace's
contract.

``It was never in doubt,'' said Pitino.

``He was always going to be with us. He's doing an outstanding job.''
