The Celtics' stunning run of summer league victories came to a crashing halt
at 15 last night in a 71-65 defeat at the hands of the Philadelphia 76ers.
But seriously.
In that last year's 14-0 mark in the Los Angeles and Boston summer circuits
signified absolutely nothing when the real games began, this one outing will
yield nary a blip.
Of true interest were the performances of first-round pick Jerome Moiso, 1999
second-rounder Kris Clack and free agent center Mark Blount.
Blount scored the day's biggest triumph, getting agreement on a partially
guaranteed contract to be in the Celts' regular training camp this October. The
6-foot-10 product of the University of Pittsburgh, the CBA and the IBL
celebrated with three points, five rebounds and four nice blocked shots.
Moiso had three blocks and displayed more slick offensive skills. He made
4-of-6 shots and grabbed seven rebounds. Clack led the Celts with 11 points.
The C's were without veteran point guard Haywoode Workman, who strained his
left hamstring in the morning practice.
